About Mariana

Hi, I'm Mariana (she/her), and I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to explore their inner world and navigate life's complexities. My journey as a trans woman has gifted me with a deep well of empathy and a unique understanding of the challenges many face, whether within the LGBTQIA+ community or beyond.
My background includes supporting teens and adults through significant mental health experiences in inpatient settings, as well as working with young people in schools and individuals within a charity. This diverse experience has shaped my approach as an integrative counsellor, allowing me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, whether you're seeking short-term support or deeper, long-term exploration.
Holding a diploma in Integrative Counselling and a certificate in Counselling Skills from Inter-Psyche Training Institute (affiliated with Kent and Medway NHS Trust), and as a full member of the BACP, I am committed to ethical and professional practice.

How I Work
A relational, integrative and person-centered approach, adapting our work to what you need most.
My approach incorporates humanistic or person-centred, psychodynamic, existential, and cognitive approaches.

I work with you as a whole person, paying attention to your unique story, thoughts, and feelings. My approach is flexible and designed to support your growth and healing in a way that feels right for you and your life.
Humanistic
Humanistic counselling centers on you and your potential for growth. The focus is on your unique experiences, empowering you to explore your feelings and find your own path towards self-acceptance and well-being. It's about trusting in your inner capacity for positive change within a strong therapeutic relationship.
Existential
Existential counselling grapples with core human questions like meaning and freedom. It helps you face life's uncertainties, take responsibility for choices, and find your own meaning. The aim is to live authentically and create a life aligned with your values amidst life's challenges.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic counselling explores how unconscious patterns and past experiences shape your present. By examining relationships and recurring themes, you gain deeper insight into the roots of your challenges. This awareness can lead to greater self-understanding and more conscious choices for lasting change.
Cognitive Approaches
Cognitive approaches highlight how thoughts impact feelings and actions. Therapy focuses on identifying and challenging negative thinking patterns to promote more balanced thoughts. Changing thoughts can lead to shifts in emotions and behaviours, fostering well-being and better coping skills.
Sessions

I currently offer online sessions via Google Meet, each lasting 50 minutes.
I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone or video call for us to connect and see if working together feels right for you.
While sessions are ideally scheduled weekly at the same time, we can discuss any accommodations during our initial meeting.​
Prices
​
Sessions are £50 per hour.
Concessionary rates may be available for those on low income and students - please feel free to get in contact to discuss this.
